Michigan beats a rival again

Jim Harbaugh got the Ohio State monkey off his back last season and now it’s time to get the Mel Tucker one off too.

The Wolverines are 0-2 against Tucker and had the better team both times. That’s going to be the case once again this fall and with Michigan football being at home, beating Michigan State is a must-win this season.

If Michigan wants to win the Big Ten championship though, it’s going to have to beat Ohio State in Columbus, something that hasn’t happened in 22 years, since Drew Henson was the starting quarterback and Anthony Thomas was the starting running back.

McCarthy is probably the most-talented Michigan signal-caller since Henson, who ultimately couldn’t decide between football and baseball and stunk at both in the pros and it will take an elite effort from J.J. and Michigan’s many other young playmakers to beat C.J. Stroud and company in Columbus.

However, after last season, I wouldn’t rule it out. I think Harbaugh was onto something when he said, “This is just the beginning” after the Ohio State win last season and another victory would really signify a change in the rivalry.

I’m not prepared to predict that. But I do think Michigan will split its rivalry games in 2022, just as it did in 2021, however, I’m leaning towards a win at home over Sparty, along with a close loss on the road in the Horseshoe.
