Dante Moore’s visit is a huge opportunity for Michigan Football
Five-star quarterback recruit Dante Moore and the top target for Michigan football in the 2023 recruiting class is reportedly going to visit the Wolverines.
Despite the fact that Michigan football keeps being included in the conversation of teams still in the mix for five-star quarterback Dante Moore, the Wolverines have been short on momentum.
Moore has visited a number of different programs this spring including Notre Dame, LSU, Oregon, Miami, and others. One place he hasn’t visited since hoops season is Michigan. Yet, the prospect from Detroit has been to Ann Arbor a bunch of times.
And while we don’t know if Moore is going to use an official visit down the road on Michigan or not, Sam Webb of The Michigan Insider is reporting (subscription required) that Moore will be visiting (unofficially) this month.
Moore is ranked as the No. 8 overall recruit in the 2023 class according to the On3.com consensus rankings and he’s the No. 4 QB as well as the best player in the state of Michigan.
Dante Moore’s visit is a huge opportunity
For a long time, Michigan felt like the favorite for Moore but Notre Dame grabbed that title earlier this spring. However, the Irish have started to fade just a bit and their odds of landing him according to the On3.com prediction machine have fallen from 89 percent to 49 percent.
Michigan’s odds are at less than five percent but Oregon was in that same range not long ago. Yet, after official visits to Oregon and LSU, both of those programs are on the rise. Texas A&M is too as the Aggies are expected to get a visit from Moore as well.
We’ve talked about Moore over and over again but there is no recruit that’s more important than him in the 2023 class. We also know Jim Harbaugh’s NFL interest probably hurt the Wolverines, as well as the presence of J.J. McCarthy who makes the path to a starting job more difficult.
Regardless, the Wolverines are desperate for some momentum in this recruitment and this is a chance to build some. Moore’s recruitment is still wide open and Michigan football just needs to remind Dante that the best choice for him is staying close to home.
After all, the best players in Michigan, go to Michigan — just like Donovan Edwards, Andrel Anthony, Rayshaun Benny, and Will Johnson.
Jim Harbaugh can sell that as well as anyone and that’s one thing the other programs in the mix really don’t have outside of maybe Texas A&M — a Jim Harbaugh.
Harbaugh is one of the biggest names in college football and his program is fresh off a Big Ten championship and a berth in the College Football Playoff. He still carries weight and it’s time for him to take over this recruitment if the Wolverines are going to stand a chance.
