Ashton Cozart — Oklahoma WR commit

Ron Bellamy has been working really hard on the wide receiver position in the 2023 recruiting class and while it hasn’t paid any dividends beyond Semaj Morgan, a three-star commitment from the state of Michigan, that was a good start and the Wolverines are far from finished.

Wide receiver is actually one of the deepest positions on the roster too, especially when you think about the three freshmen added in 2022. The pass offense should only continue to improve and that should attract even more wide receiver talent to Ann Arbor.

The 2023 board is still working itself out but one talented recruit Michigan football is working hard to get on campus is Oklahoma commitment Ashton Cozart.

Cozart is 6-foot-3, 190 pounds, and is ranked as the No. 143 overall prospect according to the On3 consensus rankings for 2023 as well as the 25th-best wideout. He committed to the Sooners back in February out of Flower Mound, Texas.

Oklahoma has a no-visit policy for recruits just as Clemson did last year, but it didn’t stop Michigan from getting Keon Sabb on campus — a player U-M eventually flipped.

Cozart was just offered by Michigan and said some really positive things about getting offered to The Wolverine (subscription required). He also talked about a potential visit to Ann Arbor, which is when the idea of flip would be very serious.

This recruitment feels similar to that of Sabb and also Amorion Walker, who Bellamy was instrumental in flipping from Notre Dame.

Flat out, Bellamy is one of the Wolverines’ best recruiters and it wouldn’t shock me at all if he got Cozart on campus, which is the key to a flip.
