5 Teams Michigan Football should play in the future Vol. 2
Ole Miss Rebels, home-and-home
Getting an SEC team to come up to the North is already hard as it is, but at the beginning of a season? It’s just that much harder.
Penn State was lucky to get Auburn to schedule a home-and-home with them, like when they came to Happy Valley last season, and Penn State will travel to Jordan-Hare Stadium this upcoming season, but generally, it’s damn near impossible to get an SEC school up to the North.
Michigan has to try to schedule a home-and-home against the Fighting Lane Kiffin’s, right? Everybody loves Lane.
The guy is goofy, knows how to have fun on Twitter with his various jokes and memes, and his pre-game and postgame interviews are YouTube gold. Just imagine: Lane Kiffin vs. Jim Harbaugh. The two quirkiest and most interesting coaches in college football going head to head.
I thought about putting Texas A&M in this spot instead, but I like Lane Kiffin way more than Jimbo Fisher.
Michigan football has only played Ole Miss once, in 1991, a 35-3 victory, so it’s been over 30 years since the two teams last met. Lane Kiffin has Ole Miss on the rise, as he just led them to their most wins ever, with 10, last season, so they should be a formidable foe in a stacked conference for years to come.
Vaught Hemingway Stadium is one of the most hostile environments at night in the country, so I’ve heard, so it would be a crazy atmosphere to play in.
Plus, Michigan could finally exorcize some of their SEC woes by beating a very solid SEC opponent. And, Lane poached away like three or four Michigan staff members in the past which led to Michigan losing some recruiting battles to Ole Miss in year’s past. Revenge would be fun.
Michigan fans, what do you think of all the opponents I just listed? Who would you rather have in certain spots? Who did I get right? Sound off in the comments below!
