Oregon Ducks, home-and-home

I honestly went back and forth debating whether I wanted to choose the Oregon Ducks or the USC Trojans as a future opponent for Michigan to play. I chose Oregon for a few reasons.

First of all, Michigan football has played less times against Oregon than they have against USC. Although Michigan did play USC and Oregon in the same season in 2007 (both losses for U-M), they still have only played Oregon five times, compared to ten times against USC.

Some Michigan fans might be upset at this selection (which I understand) as USC is a historically significant program, and would garner way more attention than Oregon would, as Lincoln Riley now coaches down in Los Angeles at the Coliseum, but Oregon is on the come-up as well, with them recently hiring former Georgia DC Dan Lenning, who can really recruit, so an improvement is expected from Oregon.

The next reason I chose Oregon over USC is because the home-and-home would give Michigan a chance to visit Eugene, the home of the Ducks stadium, which is absolutely beautiful, and the place can get really loud at games. This would be the perfect hostile environment for Michigan to play in the afternoon.

Again, I know some fans would choose The Coliseum over Autzen Stadium any day of the week, but, people can visit Los Angeles anytime they want. If we were to compare the number of fans that would want to flock to California compared to Oregon if given a poll, I’m positive the vast majority would choose California every time. Who would choose Eugene if given the choice to go to Los Angeles instead? Hardly anybody.

Lastly, I chose Oregon because of their unforms and helmet designs. There’s nothing like Oregon and their literal hundreds of jersey and helmet combinations. I want to see what Michigan and what Oregon would wear against each other. Now, I’m not a fan of ever single jersey that Oregon rolls out, but I am a fan of most of them, and liked some of them so much that I bought a few jerseys myself just because of the cool designs.

I mean, at least Oregon tries different jersey and helmet combinations, always looking to change it up, and not being stuck in the same few jersey combinations like Michigan unfortunately is.

This would also be a battle of the the Jordan brand versus Nike, as Michigan is represented by the Jordan brand, and Oregon is represented by Nike. Nike’s CEO is a former alumnus of the University of Oregon, so that’s a main reason why they have all of those interesting jersey and helmet combinations.
