Predicting Michigan Basketball’s depth chart, NBA draft decisions
SF: Jett Howard, Terrance Williams, Jace Howard, Barnes
As I wrote earlier this week, I don’t expect Moussa Diabate back next season, especially after he was invited to the combine. He’s raw as a basketball player, but his potential is real and so is his athleticism which will impress NBA scouts.
I do still think there is a decent chance that Houstan returns. It’s not a given but I haven’t seen that he was invited to the draft combine and I could see him returning if he’s not a first-round pick.
So if Houstan comes back without Diabate, I see him moving more to the four. That would mean that Jett Howard would start at the three, giving Michigan a really talented combo, not unlike the Isaiah Livers-Franz Wagner duo (without either being a defensive standout as Franz was).
Jett Howard is ranked as the No. 36 prospect in the 2022 recruiting class and the 6-foot-7, 220-pound wing has continued to get better and better.
Recently, at the Iverson Tournament, Howard was named the MVP, and J.R. Smith even called him the most pro-ready player at the tournament.
Howard can shoot from 3-point range, attack the basket, and score in a bunch of different ways. Houstan played in this spot a year ago and he, as well as Terrance Williams, will likely see some time at the three too, but if Moussa leaves, expect Jett Howard to start.
