Notre Dame is eating Michigan’s lunch

Michigan and Notre Dame have always been rivals on the field and off of it. The Wolverines and Fighting Irish recruit many of the same players and along with Ohio State, as well as Penn State, they are among the elite college football programs in the Midwest.

Michigan football and Notre Dame also have high academic standards and don’t quite play the NIL game as lowdown and dirty as some of the other powers that be.

Yet, it hasn’t stopped Marcus Freeman and the Irish from dominating in the 2023 recruiting class. Notre Dame is ranked No. 1 overall in the 2023 team rankings and has 11 total commitments.

Keon Keely is a five-star pass rusher that Michigan has tried to flip along with four-star safety commitment Peyton Bowen. Sam Pendleton was another top target for Michigan that went to ND as was Preston Zinter, the younger brother of standout Wolverine Zak Zinter.

Devan Houstan, Caleb Houstan’s younger brother, was also thought to be a Michigan lean at one time and is now trending to Notre Dame, along with top-100 O-lineman Charles Jagusah.

That doesn’t even touch on the fact that Notre Dame could very well be leading for both Moore and Carr, two five-star quarterbacks from the state of Michigan.

It’s frustrating for Michigan football fans and it’s something the staff is going to have to figure out really soon because Freeman and the Irish aren’t going away.
