2. Chris Hinton made a costly life-altering decision

Whoever was steering Hinton to declare to depart from Michigan football was dead wrong from the get-go. He made the worst decision of his life, entering the most important time of his life. Getting drafted is a privilege and is not something to be taken lightly one bit by the most world-class athletes on the planet.

Hinton could have stayed and been a guaranteed starter as well as a leader on the defensive line and defense as a whole. He had it made in the shade with the NIL in place but instead went unchosen over the three days. Now he’ll have to work the hardest he has ever had to just to make a roster spot and gain an iron-clad contract.

The New York Giants took a flier on him and reached a deal with Hinton. Luckily for him though, their depth chart is not deep.

They drafted D.J. Davidson in the 5th round and have basically nothing else outside of Leonard Williams and Dexter Lawrence on the line. So Hinton will have a realistic shot at making the team and maybe even earn some playing time sooner rather than later.
