After all the buzz surrounding the NFL Draft and Michigan defenders going off the board on Thursday night, Wolverine fans were met with some excellent news Friday afternoon. Princeton guard transfer Jaelin Llewellyn has committed to Michigan basketball.

Jaelin Llewellyn was a First Team All-Ivy performer this past season, averaging 15.7 points, 4.1 rebounds, and 2.5 assists and now he’s committed to Michigan basketball according to multiple reports the first from Matt Norlander.

Jaelin will provide a lot for the Wolverines as he shot 45 percent from the floor and 38 percent from behind the arch.

What Role Will Llewellyn Play with Michigan?

With Michigan basketball losing starting point guard DeVante’ Jones and Eli Brooks this year and the uncertainty of Diabate and Houstan moving forward, Llewellyn will be an asset to the starting five of Juwan Howard.

In addition, young players like Kobe Bufkin and Frankie Collins may have to battle with Llewellyn for minutes, but whoever gets the start will be determined by the offseason and weeks leading up to the season.

This is a fantastic move by coach Howard as Llewellyn was a highly sought-after transfer target for many teams, including Tennessee, Alabama, Miami, Clemson, Florida, and Arkansas, according to Jon Rothstein.

This commitment from Llewellyn could start a string of events for Michigan basketball and other basketball blue bloods.

In terms of grading this move for the wolverines, I would give it an A-.

The guards for Michigan, with Doug McDaniel coming in, should also be very deep and talented. There should be no problem with depth as either McDaniel or Collins will start at the one, and Bufkin or Llewellyn can start at the two.

Llewellyn adds experience to a young roster that was plagued by high turnover numbers and inconsistent shooting, which Llewellyn will be able to help with.
