Michigan football extended an offer to an intriguing offensive line prospect, plus the latest on five-star O-line target Kadyn Proctor.

One of the most interesting things about the spring evaluation period in college football recruiting is that you always see prospects start to rise.

That’s what is happening right now with three-star offensive lineman Oluwatosin Babalade who is out of DeMatha High School (Hunter Dickinson’s school) from Hyattsville, Maryland. Michigan football extended an offer on Monday, which was the latest in a slew of Big Ten offers.

Babalade is listed at 6-foot-5, 296 pounds according to his 247 sports profile, and the offensive tackle is ranked as the No. 534 prospect overall in the 2023 class via the 247 composite rankings.

Minnesota recently made an offer and that was after Penn State got in the mix on April 6. Babalade is a top-50 offensive tackle and has also been offered by Rutgers, Virginia Tech, Boston College, Pitt, North Carolina, and others.

It’s no secret that Michigan football has been more actively recruiting the DMV and part of that has to do with Biff Poggi. The Wolverines are involved with some other top targets at tackle in Cayden Green and Kadyn Proctor, among others, but those recruits are starting to feel more like longshots.

Babalade told Brice Marich of The Michigan Insider (subscription required) that he was planning to visit Ann Arbor soon which is a good thing for the Wolverines.

Sherrone Moore on the road

Speaking of Proctor, the Wolverines were named as a finalist and aren’t giving up. Sherrone Moore was on the road and visited Proctor Tuesday night according to The Michigan Insider.

Proctor is ranked 7th overall according to the 247 sports composite rankings and Iowa has two crystal ball projections for the Des Moines, Iowa prospect who is also the top O-lineman in 2023.

Proctor has visited Michigan but just unofficially. We’ll see if they can get him on campus again but there is serious ground to make up with Proctor and top-100 offensive tackle Cayden Green, who continues to feel like an Oklahoma lean.

Green was just on Oklahoma’s campus for the spring game and the attendance was crazy so that probably helped the Sooners even more. So it seems like a good time to expand the board at offensive tackle and Babalade’s recruitment will be one to keep an eye on.
