Terrence Shannon is visiting Michigan basketball and posted on social media that he’s currently in Ann Arbor.

There have been a lot of rumblings about Terrence Shannon possibly transferring to Michigan basketball and those will only be fueled by his latest post on Instagram.

Shannon, the 6-foot-6 wing from Texas Tech who would be an ideal fit for the Wolverines based on their roster needs, posted on Instagram that he is in Ann Arbor.

There were rumors that he was going to take a visit to Michigan soon and here he is, one day after Kofi Cockburn announced he would enter the 2022 NBA draft.

That’s important because Illinois, Michigan, and Kentucky have been viewed as the top contenders for Shannon, and there was some thought that he was waiting on decisions like Cockburn’s.

Michigan basketball appears to be the leader

There was even a report last week that said, quoting an unknown source, that Michigan basketball was the leader for Shannon and was going to get him as long as there weren’t any issues with the admissions process.

Well, as Michigan fans know, there are always problems with the admissions process for transfers, who aren’t freshman (sophomores to be) or graduates. The University of Michigan will only allow so many credits to transfer.

Basically, there is a cap so that you have to get a certain number of credits at Michigan in order to get your degree. So Shannon could gain admission, but it could set him back academically to the point where he’s basically a junior (two years from graduating) instead of a senior.

I have no specific knowledge of Shannon’s situation but if he’s taking a visit, there has to be some hope they can get him through and if we are reading the tea leaves correctly, that’s the only thing standing in Michigan’s way at this point.
