DB, Zeke Berry

It shouldn’t come as a surprise to any Michigan football fan that Daxton Hill’s NFL draft stock is rising. He did more for the Wolverines than meets the eye and his versatility was huge last season.

The secondary should be much better than expected going into spring football. Johnson had a standout spring and looks ready to contribute, while DJ Turner and Gemon Green looked like starters.

However, there could be some snaps available at safety. R.J. Moten and Rod Moore seem in line to start at safety with Makari Paige and others in the mix. But there isn’t really anyone ready to take on that role of Daxton Hill and a pair of freshmen might be the best choices.

Keon Sabb and Zeke Berry are defensive backs that can play more than one position.  Sabb could probably even drop into the box and be a linebacker in dime packages, while Berry has the ability to play safety and corner at 6-foot, 195 pounds.

Berry was ranked 53rd overall according to 247 sports rankings for 2022 as the fifth-best safety. He’s got the ability to play right away and like Hill, is an excellent tackler, as well as someone who can hold his own in man coverage.
