Projecting Michigan Football’s post-spring depth chart
EDGE
Starters: Mike Morris, Jaylen Harrell; Backups: Taylor Upshaw, Braiden McGregor, Derrick Moore
When you have to replace two of the best pass rushers in program history, there is going to be a drop-off in production and that’s to be expected next season for the Wolverines.
Michigan football won’t get as many sacks without Hutchinson and Ojabo, yet, the Wolverines won’t be as bad in the pass-rush department as some might think.
Mike Morris has been off the charts this spring and had another pressure on Saturday. Jaylen Harrell also had some nice moments and has been really good at setting the edge.
Braiden McGregor played well on Saturday and showed some burst off the edge. He was one of Michigan’s top recruits in the 2020 class before blowing out his knee and if healthy, he could be special as could freshman Derrick Moore who should get plenty of pass-rush snaps too.
This was another position where it was thought a transfer was needed. Now, after spring, it doesn’t seem necessary, although you can never have enough pass rushers.
