Projecting Michigan Football’s post-spring depth chart
Tight end
Starter: Erick All; Backups: Luke Schoonmaker, Louis Hansen, Joel Honingord, Colston Loveland
Erick All could easily be playing in the NFL next season, however, the talented tight end will be back with Michigan football. Luke Schoonmaker and Joel Honingford are also back, as is rising sophomore Louis Hansen.
But just like at wide receiver, Michigan’s backup tight ends are good enough to start for most college football teams. All has some of the best hands on the team and he should only get better heading into the 2022 season.
Schoonmaker really came on at the end of the season, while Honingford is a blocking specialist. Hansen and Loveland are the future and what a duo that’s going to be.
Hansen didn’t have a big day receiving but his blocking has been really good. The same can be said for the entire tight end group which is a huge part of the Wolverines’ running game.
With a former offensive lineman Grant Newsome teaching the group, we shouldn’t be surprised to see guys like Hansen pancaking people, which is another reminder that as far as top-to-bottom talent, tight end is as deep as any position on the roster.
