5 Observations From Michigan Football’s Spring Game
By Alex Hinton
Freshmen Playmakers Emerging
The bulk of Michigan football’s playmakers are established veterans like Ronnie Bell, Corneilus Johnson, Roman Wilson, and Erick All just to name a few.
However, the Wolverines have a talented crop of freshmen that will push for playing time as well. Wide receiver Darrius Clemons had earned buzz as a standout for much of spring practice. He showed why after he made a spectacular diving 35-yard touchdown catch. He finished with three catches for 52 yard and he completed a pass as well.
Fellow freshman Amorion Walker did not play as many snaps but he did haul in a 39-yard reception. It is hard to see Walker in that No. 4 and not think of Marquise Walker. Perhaps he and Clemons will form a duo as potent as David Terrell and Marquise Walker in a few years.
Tight end Colston Loveland also had been generating a ton of buzz in practice. He had just one target but he hauled a 31-yard reception on a double pass from All.
Michigan returns a deep TE room led by All and Luke Schoonmaker. However, I would not be surprised if Loveland emerged as the No. 2 TE by season’s end.
