Prediction #5: Cade McNamara shows clear improvement

I admit I have been (and probably will continue to be) in the “start J.J. camp”. However, there’s no denying the work Cade McNamara has put in this offseason.

Training with renowned quarterback guru Jordan Palmer, McNamara has by all accounts taken the leap that you expect from a current starter entering his second season holding the title.

To all the couch qb’s at home: what are we looking for in regards to Cade’s improvement?

For starters, having that obvious “zip” on the ball that we see from elite quarterbacks across the country, and frankly that even the aforementioned McCarthy possesses.

Additionally, though he isn’t a natural scrambler, the ability to escape pressure and create something out of nothing with his legs.

Jim Harbaugh and co. won’t let McNamara get beat up like a red-headed stepchild, but he will face pressure situations.

It is imperative to his progression as a starting quarterback that he shows how effective he can be in making things happen on the ground. That’s what will elevate Cade McNamara from a middle-of-the-pack quarterback to one of the conference — and nation’s best.

And if Cade McNamara has shown us anything, it’s to not count him out. Expect a big day from the returning starter.
