Brandon Johns: Stay

Most Michigan basketball fans want Brandon Johns gone. They don’t want to see him return and would probably just rather use that spot for the portal.

If Barnes leaves along with Jones, Brooks, Nunez, Dickinson, and Jackson, that would leave Michigan room for two transfers, if Johns stayed on the roster.

I know Brandon has never lived up to his talent and the most he has ever done is put together a few stretches of production. But he’s a good teammate. He never complained about coming off the bench this season and gave a strong effort, even against Nova.

Johns needs to improve and just be more consistent but he’s got talent, size and he knows how to handle himself in the rough and tumble Big Ten.

And if you bring back Johns and Diabate, that will lessen the need to bring in a transfer. I don’t think you need one anyway unless Moussa leaves. Tarris Reed should get some minutes next season anyway, while Houstan and Williams should see more time at the four too.

Remember, grabbing mid-majors in the transfer portal doesn’t always work out as well as it did with Jones and Mike Smith. Johns knows the system and his role, he just needs to do it better and if he wants to return, U-M should strongly consider it.
