Hunter Dickinson: Go

The three most important offseason decisions for Michigan basketball will come from three players determining whether to return or declare for the NBA draft.

Hunter Dickinson, Moussa Diabate, and Caleb Houstan all have decisions to make. Dickinson definitely took a step forward with his game in the 2021-22 season and strongly indicated before the year that he was headed to the draft after.

Dickinson declared a year ago and withdrew his name. He needed to work on his perimeter shooting and scoring with his right hand and he did. He averaged nearly 21 points per game from the month of February on. He also turned into a semi-reliable 3-point shooter at 32 percent.

However, his defense is still a weakness. But he’s also a pretty old sophomore at 21 and his draft stock probably isn’t going to improve. I expect him to declare for the NBA draft and even if he doesn’t get selected in round two, he will play pro ball next season in the NBA or G-League.
