Michigan Basketball: 3 takeaways from a sloppy loss to Villanova

3. Decisions await for next year’s featured core
As always when a run comes to an end there are a boatload of unanswered questions that won’t be known until the declarations have been made public.
This year is no different with the buzz surrounding mainly around Hunter Dickinson, Caleb Houstan, and Moussa Diabate. All three are eligible to stay or go.
Dickinson seems the most likely to go pro because he improved his offensive game as scouts told him to. His defense still leaves a lot to be desired though. He has trouble when he has to switch on to smaller guards who can drive past him to the basket for layups. It will be a lot more difficult to cover smaller guards in the pros because they are faster and will take any advantage over him that they can.
Diabate isn’t strong enough. He routinely got the ball stripped out of his hands this year when he went up for the ball and brought it back down in traffic.
Plus he has no outside game, which is a must for the next level anymore. Houstan is way too inconsistent. He needs to develop more and prove to the scouts that he can sustain it.
