Michigan Basketball: 3 keys to a victory over Villanova
Frankie Collins needs to play another great game
When DeVante Jones got injured against Tennessee, it wasn’t the death bed that it could’ve been because Frankie Collins has really stepped up in DeVante’s absence. Now, he probably will have to do it again (unless DeVante somehow miraculously comes back from two concussions in two weeks).
Villanova’s guard Collin Gillespie is one of the most experienced guards in the country, as he is a fifth-year senior, coming off a torn ACL last year, and always seems to come up big in crunch time. He is the heart and soul of Villanova. We shouldn’t expect Frankie to totally outplay Collin. He doesn’t have to.
What we need from Frankie is for him to make good decisions, attack the basket (get fouled), and play tenacious defense on Gillespie.
If Frankie can do those things, Michigan should be okay. Villanova is right behind Tennessee in offensive and defensive rating, and they forced 12 turnovers on Ohio State.
