Keon Sabb, DB

Another defensive back who has a good chance of seeing the field next season is top-100 recruit Keon Sabb. Michigan football signed the one-time Clemson commitment on early national signing day and he’s another that’s been mentioned alongside Johnson as standing out this spring in the secondary.

Brad Hawkins, a former Michigan football player, responded that Sabb was another guy to watch along with Johnson in terms of potential impact freshman. Here’s what he said to Wolverines Wire:

"“I’d say Keon Sabb, freshman — Will Johnson,” Hawkins said. “I haven’t had the opportunity to really see, but from what I know and what I see around, I think for sure (those guys).”"

With Hawkins and Daxton Hill headed to the NFL draft, Michigan certainly has some snaps available at the position, although Rod Moore and R.J. Moten are expected to start.

Braiden McGregor, EDGE

Everyone knows that Michigan football needs new players to emerge on the edge and one candidate is Braiden McGregor, a four-star signing from the 2020 recruiting class. At 6-foot-6, 260 pounds, McGregor has a lot of similarities to Hutchinson and he was a really good tight end in high school too before he suffered a knee injury.

McGregor was healthy last season and got some playing time but Minter said some good things about him too.

"“A guy I’ve been pleasantly surprised with is Braiden McGregor. I think he has potential to be a high-end edge player as we continue to grow.”"

If the former No. 5 player at his position (strong-side DE) can deliver on his potential, that would be a great thing for the Wolverines.
