Michigan basketball will play Colorado State on Thursday in the NCAA Tournament and here are the odds, a prediction, and how to watch.

It’s been a wild and wacky season for the Michigan basketball team but at the end of the day, the Wolverines are back where they normally are in March at the NCAA Tournament.

This year makes six straight appearances for Michigan basketball and the Wolverines would have made it in 2020 had the tournament been held.

Yet, none of that is going to help the Wolverines this week as they look to extend their Sweet 16 streak to five trips in a row. As an 11 seed, Michigan has a difficult road ahead of it, however, the news isn’t all bad as Indianapolis isn’t that far from Ann Arbor, especially when compared to Fort Collins, Colorado.

While Michigan basketball is very familiar with the NCAA Tournament, Colorado State is back for the first time in nearly a decade and their head coach will be coaching his first NCAA game this week.

Will that inexperience matter? Or will the absence of DeVante Jones be a death sentence for Michigan’s hopes of advancing to the round of 32?

We look at the odds, and how to watch and stream, as well as offer up a prediction for Michigan basketball and Colorado State.

Michigan basketball vs Colorado odds

Things could change but according to the odds from WynnBET, Michigan basketball is currently a 1.5-point favorite going into its matchup against sixth-seeded Colorado. The over/under is 137.5 and the money line is +100 for Colorado State, as well as -120 for Michigan.

Michigan basketball vs Colorado State prediction

The Wolverines can’t feel as good about their chances in this game without DeVante Jones who is going to be out with a concussion. Yet, the Wolverines still have a bunch of talent and a 7-foot-1 center in Hunter Dickinson.

This game will hinge on which team can do a better job of getting its star going on offense. For the Wolverines that means playing through Dickinson. He can dominate in the post and when the double teams come, he gets other guys open shots. Those shots haven’t always gone down but when the ball is moving, and Dickinson is scoring inside, the offense is clicking.

Frankie Collins also played a stellar half against Michigan State, a tournament team. He’s going to have to duplicate that performance and Kobe Bufkin will need to step up too, along with Eli Brooks who will add extra point guard minutes to all of his other duties.

Colorado State’s David Roddy is going to be tough to handle, but so is Dickinson. That will be the question and whichever team does a better job of limiting those elite players will win the game.

It’s should be a shootout though as both teams ranked near the top-20 in adjusted offensive efficiency according to Kenpom as well as outside the top-80 on defense.

I think the Wolverines will have one of those hot-shooting days from deep and that along with a big day from Hunter will lead to an 85-80 win in a game that will feel a little like Michigan-Oklahoma State back in 2017.
