Momentum for Michigan football, Mike Elston

Coach Mike Elston came to Michigan football with a strong reputation on the recruiting trail and is now playing a key role in the recruiting operation (recruiting director) as well as on the staff coaching the defensive line.

Essentially, his job is to help identify prospects and also to marshall resources. That’s a simplified version but someone has to oversee the recruiting operation and that’s Elston for now.

He was involved heavily with Bahr while he coached at Notre Dame and while Notre Dame didn’t offer in this recruitment, his addition to the staff in Ann Arbor made this an easy win.

Michigan football has recruited well in the state of Illinois and like Notre Dame, the Wolverines love those big, versatile defensive linemen.

This was another important get because it was the first D-line addition to the 2022 class and with him being one that can play multiple spots, it can give the Wolverines a little wiggle room.

It was their first commitment since Cole Cabana pledged back on February 5th, so it was over a month but Michigan is now 12th in the 2023 composite rankings from 247 sports and there is plenty to like about Bahr.
