5. Louis Hansen

One of my favorite signees from the 2021 recruiting class was four-star tight end Louis Hansen. He’s from Massachusetts and was ranked as the No. 11 tight end in the 2021 recruiting class according to the 247 sports composite rankings and he turned heads last offseason.

Many, myself included, expected him to make an impact last season but some other tight ends such as Erick All and Luke Schoonmaker emerged. Both of those guys are back, as is Joel Honigford, but Hansen can only stay sidelined for so long.

Just like with the running backs and wide receivers, Michigan has to spread the ball around and with Hansen’s size, speed, and blocking ability, he should get some serious run this season.

The second-year Wolverine is putting together a solid spring camp and recently hauled in a touchdown pass during practice.

Hansen is 6-foot-6, 252 pounds, and has great hands. I know Michigan football fans are excited to see what incoming freshman Colston Loveland can do, but people are forgetting about Hansen who I expect to see a lot more in 2022.

And while his production might not jump off the charts by the end of the season, in large part due to the crowded tight end room, Hansen will catch some passes (guessing 10 or so) and he will catch at least one touchdown pass this season for the Wolverines.
