3. Donovan Edwards

It does feel a little bit like a cop-out to have Donovan Edwards on the list because he’s such an obvious choice but the same can be said about McCarthy and Anthony.

When you consider the potential that these three guys have and that they are all entering their sophomore seasons, ready to take on increased roles,  is exciting.

It’s clear from looking at the roster that Michigan football is finally starting to get the type of skill-position talent it had around 20 years ago when winning the Big Ten was a more regular thing.

Back in the good ole days, Michigan football had a quarterback, receiver, and running back drafted just about every year, plus tight ends and offensive lineman galore.

The Wolverines had a stretch of having their starting quarterback drafted for a good 20 years before Rich Rod came and brought it all to a screeching halt.

Jim Harbaugh has quietly rebuilt it and Edwards, who flashed five-star talent throughout 2022, is my bet to take the biggest leap. He’s going to eclipse 1,000 total yards and I think he will find the end zone around 10 times or so.

Edwards is just too dynamic not to have a breakout campaign in 2022 and honestly, the only thing that will limit his numbers is the fact that he’s got an All-American caliber back in front of him in Blake Corum.

Corum took a huge leap from 2020 to 2021 and I think Edwards will take a similar leap, while Corum will boost his production more into the Hassan Haskins range.
