Michigan Basketball: 3 takeaways from extraordinary win in Columbus
By Nick Popio
3. Michigan can’t afford another backpedaling performance on Thursday
The maize and blue have all but equaled their win and loss totals since late January. They have been the epitome of a Jekyll and Hyde bunch who has been living on the bubble for the same amount of time. Now they’ll get to burst that bubble with a strong display at this week’s rigorous Big Ten tournament.
Michigan drew the Indiana Hoosiers who they beat in Bloomington already, but this version of the Hoosiers is going to be undeniably desperate for a victory. They have to win at the very least two games to get into the field, whereas if Michigan wins outright, then Wolverines will be in with almost 100% certainty, despite what they would presumably do against Illinois on Friday.
Hunter Dickinson and Juwan Howard will be back for the Wolverines which is bad news for the Hoosiers. Dickinson punished Indiana and Michigan hit 11 triples in the win at Bloomington.
Another noteworthy tidbit on this rivalry will be that they meet up again nearly six years to the day that Kameron Chatman hit a game-winning three to send Michigan to the upset of the then number one seed Indiana.
