Michigan Basketball: 3 takeaways from extraordinary win in Columbus
By Nick Popio
2. Michigan’s second-half sense of urgency rejuvenated their win
It looked like Ohio State was going to run away with it at the end of the first half, but Michigan showed why they should be considered as a tournament team when the madness begins. Their defense forced turnovers and came away with several steals at Ohio State’s expense. They went on a 14-1 spurt that gave them their largest lead of the afternoon.
Everyone was making plays all over the court. The players were feeding off of each other because of all the hard work they were putting in to take over the Buckeyes attack. DeVante’ Jones will probably get most of the credit though. He willed his way inside the paint for contested lay-ups to keep his club from faltering in crunch time.
Ohio State might have been a little tired, being that it was their fourth contest of the week, but the same can be said for Michigan basketball.
Michigan flat out wanted it more and the Buckeyes went flat at the most important time of the year. March is the period where everyone has to and wants to play their best basketball and that will never change even though it was still just the regular-season finale.
