3. Michigan still can earn a double-bye in the Big Ten Tournament

Let me just state that it’s highly, highly unlikely that this will happen, but the window remains slightly open.

Michigan would clearly have to win out and get a lot of help. They’ve already won at Iowa, so beating them on Thursday is achievable and winning in Columbus on Sunday suddenly looks more doable with Nebraska pulling out a stunner on Tuesday as well.

For that to happen though, chaos would have to ensue, but a 12-8 Big Ten record would get the job done. No one could have imagined that coming way back when they lost at home to Minnesota at the outset of the Big Ten schedule and began 1-3 in the nation’s most barbaric conference. Finishing at 11-5 would be quite a testament to how far this group has come since December.

Ohio State is the favorite in the clubhouse to get the two byes, but the shocking loss to Nebraska could linger if they don’t fix it by Thursday night.

In the meantime though, Michigan has locked itself into a single-bye and will be no worse than the nine seed in next week’s processions in Indianapolis.
