3 Keys for Michigan Basketball to beat Illinois
Caleb Houstan has to hit shots
If there is one factor that will determine whether or not Michigan basketball will win on Sunday, it might be the 3-point field goal percentage of Caleb Houstan.
In the first loss, Houstan was 0-for-4 from 3-point range and that kind of stat has been a common theme in losses for the Wolverines as the five-star freshman has shot 18.9 percent from beyond the arc in 11 defeats for Michigan basketball compared to 47.4 percent in the wins.
Houstan is also knocking down 46.3 percent of his 3-pointers at home compared to just 30 percent on the road. If those numbers hold true on Sunday and over the next three games, the Wolverines should win at least two if not more.
However, as mentioned on the previous slide, Dickinson is really important in terms of creating open shots and if he and Jones can’t score in one-on-one situations, Houstan might not get many good looks.
Right now, he’s playing with confidence and if he can keep shooting the ball the way he was expected to when he arrived on campus, U-M should be able to pull the upset.
