One of Michigan football’s best quarterbacks ever, Denard Robinson, is coming back to work in the recruiting department under Jim Harbaugh.

Wednesday, multiple sources told Ant Wright of The Wolverine that the Wolverines head coach Jim Harbaugh is hiring Michigan football‘s former star quarterback to a player personnel role within the program. 10 years after leaving the program, Denard Robinson is coming home.

In the early stages of Michigan football’s 2009 season, a young freshman quarterback entered the game against Western Michigan and took his first snap as a Wolverine. The former four-star prospect then fumbled his first snap, picked it up, and ran it the field’s length for a touchdown. Since then, the name Denard Robinson has become a household name in Ann Arbor.

In 2010 Robinson was named Michigan football’s full-time starting quarterback, leading the Wolverines to their first and only winning season under former coach Rich Rodriguez. In 2011, Robinson turned heads and left fans speechless throughout Michigan’s 11-2 season, which ended in a win over Ohio State and Virginia Tech in the Sugar Bowl.

Sadly, Robinson would miss most of the 2012 season; however, the Jacksonville Jaguars would still draft Robinson in the 2013 NFL draft as a running back, not a quarterback.

Robinson’s solid arm strength and accuracy mixed with his killer speed and mobility proved to be one of the most deadly combinations in college football history and transformed him into a Michigan legend.

Now, a decade after his senior season with the Wolverines, Robinson will be returning to Michigan football on Jim Harbaugh’s staff.

Harbaugh is no stranger to hiring former Wolverines. He has picked up numerous Michigan men in the past two seasons alone, most notably Mike Hart and Mike Elston.

Though it is not entirely clear to what extent Robinson will be involved in player personnel, there is no doubt that Robinson will fit right into this new role and is already being graciously welcomed home by Michigan’s fans and media.
