Tight end

Starter: Erick All; Backups: Luke Schoonmaker, Joel Honigford, Louis Hansen

Honestly, when you look at Michigan football’s tight end group, it’s not that different from wide receiver in the sense that the Wolverines have a lot of talent returning.

Erick All is back after catching 38 passes and he would have been drafted fairly early if he opted for that direction. His return was massive for the Wolverines but as Jim Harbaugh indicated recently, there could be three guys in the room headed to the NFL next year.

Luke Schoonmaker really came on down the stretch and finished with 17 receptions for 165 yards and three scores. He’s a damn good blocker too as is Joel Honigford, a former offensive lineman who is just the dream player for Harbaugh.

Harbaugh’s offense used to center around fullbacks. Now, the extra blockers are tight ends and it was a big win for Michigan football to get Honigford back for next season.

And don’t forget about Louis Hansen. He was one of my favorites in the 2021 recruiting class and if the position wasn’t so loaded, he probably would have played a role last season. He’s a freakish talent and U-M needs to get him some touches.
