Michigan Basketball: 3 takeaways from unforeseen win at Iowa
By Nick Popio
3. Michigan is back in the bubble conversation again
The Ohio State loss put the Wolverines as one of the first few teams out of the NCAA tournament depending upon which bracketology you follow online.
That changed in an instant with a crucial road win Thursday night. The Wolverines should now be back in the good graces of the NCAA committee with less than a month left to go in the season and plenty of quad one showdowns still to come.
Michigan basketball is 3-7 versus quad one teams and has quality wins over San Diego State, Purdue, at Indiana, and at Iowa.
With six games left on the schedule a 4-2 record should comfortably put Michigan in the tournament. That will be easier said than done with all six of those games being quad one meetings.
Meanwhile, Michigan seems to be rounding into tournament form. The Wolveriners have won seven of their last 10 and are only two games back in the loss column of the top team in the Big Ten as things currently stand.
Winning at Wisconsin will be next to impossible, but it’s not an improbable feat with how unpredictable the Big Ten has turned out to be in 2022.
