3 Things Jim Harbaugh, Michigan Football need to do next
Michigan football lost one assistant coach this week in Josh Gattis and to avoid any more fallout, here’s what Jim Harbaugh needs to do.
Just when Michigan football fans thought things were going to slow down a bit, Josh Gattis up and left for Miami.
It was a surprise but wasn’t to the insiders as all the reporting is showing that Gattis wasn’t feeling appreciated and he said so in his own farewell text to the team.
Regardless of that, the key thing for Michigan football is moving forward. Jim Harbaugh is going to have work to do in order to rebuild some relationships and to give the Wolverines the best opportunity to build on their success next season.
Sam Webb of The Michigan Insider is also reporting about staff moves and promotions for Matt Weiss and Sherrone Moore among other moves. That’s key and here are three things that Jim Harbaugh and Michigan football need to do.
Sign his own extension
There are probably other things at work behind the scenes, at least one would hope such as hiring new coordinators and convincing key assistants to stick around. But one thing that could help in all of those efforts is Jim Harbaugh signing his contract offer from Michigan.
All the reporting indicated that there was going to be a bigger pool of money for assistant coaches. That is going to be needed and Harbaugh making his extension official can provide assurances to both players and staff, that he’s not going anywhere.
A bigger buyout would be a good thing too if he agreed to it. Whatever the Wolverines can do to show stability is important because the Harbaugh to NFL stuff is being used against Michigan on the recruiting trail and will continue until he proves he’s (as much as he can) not going anywhere.
