Anthony Campanile

While this is getting a little farther down the list and hopefully that’s not necessary, Miami Dolphins linebacker coach Anthony Campanile is another quality candidate in my view.

Campanile has plenty of experience in the NFL and college football. He started his coaching career in the high school ranks at Don Bosco Prep and was a defensive coordinator there before going to Rutgers and eventually taking over as co-defensive coordinator at Boston College.

Campanile came to Michigan football from Boston College but then left to coach linebackers for the Miami Dolphins. Right now, it’s hard to know where he stands as Brian Flores was fired and the Dolphins haven’t hired a replacement.

It’s possible that he’s kept on by the new head coach but if Jim Harbaugh called and offered him the defensive coordinator job at Michigan, it’s hard to imagine him saying no.

dark. Next. 3 replacement candidates for Josh Gattis

Like Macdonald and the others on this list, he’s got NFL experience, but he knows the college game too and he’s a solid recruiter. He’s far from the worst option.
