Overview

There’s a lot to love about Hassan Haskins. He is just one of the many talented running backs in this year’s draft class. Unfortunately, there are a few elements that won’t make Haskins an early-round draft pick.

Mainly, Haskin’s lack of burst is the most discouraging quality about him. He runs a verified 4.74 40-yard dash, which isn’t super fast, so that’s one turn-off. He’s also not super elusive or shifty, and he is not super effective on outside rushing schemes with his lacking speed.

On inside rushing schemes, he will be very dependable, and he’ll have a lot of success. His success will come down to the system and what rushing scheme situation he is put into.

He is very durable, takes great care of the football, gives his 100% on every single play, has the athleticism to leap over defenders, is a patient runner, can catch the ball in space, is very hard to take down, always falls forward, and is a great blocker on passing downs.

Players like Hassan Haskins will never go out of style in the NFL. Despite the NFL leaning more towards speed and shiftiness, big, physical backs are always needed.

Haskins has played very well in big games, as he had the 31-carry 156-yard performance against Penn State last season and the 169-yard performance against Ohio State. He can have big games.

Haskins isn’t just a big, physical back. He can pretty much do it all, and do it all very well. He doesn’t have one dominant trait, but he just does everything well and does everything that’s asked of him.

The 2022 Senior Bowl and the NFL Combine will be key for him to solidify his status as a draft pick, but, that shouldn’t be an issue.

Right now, prior to the Senior Bowl and the NFL Combine, he looks like a safe Day 3 pick, with the potential to be drafted at the tail end of Day 2.
