3 Predictions for Michigan Basketball against Northwestern
Michigan basketball will take on Northwestern tonight in search of a third straight win and here are three predictions for the Wolverines.
Over the past two games, Michigan basketball has seemingly turned a corner. The Wolverines won convincingly at home against Maryland and at Indiana.
The second was the Wolverines’ best win of the season and was a huge shot to the arm as far as their NCAA tournament hopes are concerned.
But Michigan basketball is still in a precarious position. U-M is 9-7 overall and 3-3 in the Big Ten. With 14 games to go in league play and many challenges ahead, games like tonight against Northwestern essentially fall into the must-win category.
The Wolverines can’t afford any slipups and with a trip to Michigan State looming on Saturday, the Wolverines need to be focused. With that in mind, here are three predictions for Michigan basketball against Northwestern.
Michigan has another good night from deep
Northwestern has a solid big in Pete Nance who is 6-foot-10 and averages close to a double-double. He blocks a shot per game but I don’t see him being able to contain Hunter Dickinson by himself.
The Wildcats force teams to shoot 3-pointers. In fact, they give up the most 3-point attempts in the Big Ten as well as the fewest 2-point attempts.
Michigan has the best 2-point player in the Big Ten, but just like the previous two games, U-M will play through Dickinson early. Caleb Houstan is going to get open looks and he’ll make two or three. Eli Brooks has been in a slump and I think that ends tonight too.
In all, Dickinson will notch three or four assists and the ball will be moving, which will lead in my estimation to 8-10 3-point makes for Michigan tonight.
