It was announced today that Warde Manuel, Michigan’s Athletic Director has been selected to serve a stint on the Playoff Committee.

In a somewhat shocking development today, Warde Manuel will be hoisted amongst College Football’s elite as a member of the infamous Playoff Committee. The Playoff Committee added 4 new members today as part of a new three-year deal.

Amongst the new committee members is Jim Grobe a former coach for the Ohio Bobcats and Wake Forest, most recently in 2016 the coach of the Baylor Bears. Director of Athletics at Navy, Chet Gladchuk will also join in followed lastly by Kelly Whiteside.

The new Chairman of the Playoff Committee was also named today, Boo Corrigan who served as the Athletic Director at NC State and will replace Iowa Athletic Director Gary Barta for the Chairman position.

The CFP Playoff committee is not all sunshine and rainbows, however. Warde will be tasked with a very important position hopefully making the right decisions for the sport under his new title.

Warde currently sits in an interesting spot as it is with Coach Jim Harbaugh weighing his coaching options. With new information circulating every day regarding the situation, hopefully, he’s focused on bringing Jim Harbaugh back next season.

It’s hard to know if this is a good or bad thing for Michigan football. But it is an interesting development and it will be interesting to see how Manuel will handle himself on that stage.

For now, though, the top thing on the mind of Michigan football fans remains Harbaugh and whether or not he will coach the Wolverines next season, even despite this development.
