If Michigan football head coach Jim Harbaugh does leave the NFL here’s why the Chicago Bears would be the best fit.

Listen, even writing this article makes me annoyed and makes me want to throw something, but, at this point, nobody knows anything, so anything is on the table.

None of us ultimately know what Jim Harbaugh is gonna do. That’s what makes this constant back-and-forth talk so frustrating and annoying to listen to.

It’s now been over three weeks, and Jim Harbaugh still hasn’t signed his Michigan extension, which has reportedly been offered to him and has sat on the table for weeks now.

Even last week, I was feeling supremely confident that Jim Harbaugh was going to sign his contract and come back to Michigan football, but now that that deadline has passed, and it has been reported that Harbaugh would leave if offered the Raiders job, my confidence has dipped.

Now, there are rumors about the Las Vegas Raiders supposedly being highly interested in Patriots OC Josh McDaniels. Supposedly, he’s the Raiders’ first choice, but once again, we don’t know for sure. All of this is just rumors.

So, now if Harbaugh leaves for the NFL, it is what it is at this point. I would pray that it doesn’t, as Michigan football seems like it can’t have nice things or nice things for long, but that’s the reality of the situation. As I said, I hate talking about this NFL stuff, and, hopefully, it doesn’t come to this.

All the talk has centered around the Raiders job and why Harbaugh would leave for the Raiders job, but, the Bears job is arguably better long-term. Here’s why:

Jim Harbaugh was drafted by the Chicago Bears

What better way to seek a reunion than by the NFL franchise that drafted you?

In case you were unaware, Jim Harbaugh was drafted by the Chicago Bears in the first round of the 1987 NFL Draft (26th overall).

He played for the Chicago Bears for six seasons (from ‘87-‘93) and the Bears made four playoff appearances while he was in the Windy City. He threw for 50 touchdowns and 56 interceptions in his time with the Bears, under head coach Mike Ditka.

While Harbaugh wasn’t remembered as the greatest quarterback to play in a Bears uniform, he still led them to a lot of success, and he might still be the best quarterback, or at least the quarterback with the most hype and excitement to come to the Windy City since maybe Justin Fields right now (which we’ll get to later in this article).

If you talk to any Bears fan, they’ll tell you that their QB situation hasn’t been even solid in a very long time. Probably since Rex Grossman led them to that SB appearance in ‘06.

They’ve had QBs like Kyle Orton, Josh McCown, Mitchell Trubisky, and Jay Cutler walk through their doors and start for the Bears, and all of those QBs were mediocre starting QBs at best (especially with McCown, who was a career backup that got some spot starts).

So, believe it or not, Jim has had one of the most successful long-term runs in the Windy City and that was over 25 years ago. Here are two other reasons the Bears would make sense for Michigan football coach Jim Harbaugh.
