It is rare for Michigan to be able to go into the state of Ohio and pluck a top target away from the clutches of the Buckeyes, but Michigan will be aiming to do exactly that with the Findlay product here.

Ranked as the sixth-best offensive tackle in the 2023 class according to 247Sports’ Composite Rankings, Montgomery has interest and offers from all of the Midwest’s top programs, along with out of region teams like Alabama, Clemson, Oklahoma, and USC.

Interestingly enough, while Michigan football has primarily pursued Montgomery has an offensive lineman, Michigan’s new defensive line coach, Mike Elston, was initially recruiting him to Notre Dame as a defensive lineman, showing a high degree of versatility here.

While it won’t be an easy one for the Wolverines, the staff has consistently made Montgomery a top priority in this year’s class.
