Michigan basketball got a critical win at home against the Maryland Terrapins to break a 3 game losing skid. Here’s what we learned.

This was a much-needed win for Juwan Howard and company. Michigan basketball finally played a full stretch of basketball where the Wolverines looked like the elite team we sorted them out to be at the beginning of the season.

Michigan basketball had control for almost the whole game which is something new to this year’s team. Hopefully, this was a big-time wake-up call and the moment where we can go back and reflect that this was where Michigan started clicking.

It seems like a lot of wins per late with the basketball team, even some losses we’ve chalked up as the clicking moment but Michigan has gone back-to-back games with good performances (even the loss to Illinois was a good performance for 34 minutes) so there is nothing to be ashamed of.

Juwan got a much-needed win as tension was starting to brew throughout social media as he looked more like the coach Michigan Basketball needed.

However, this is just the first step in a mountain that Juwan Howard and company need to climb in order to put Michigan back in a championship-contending spot.

Let’s go over some of the key points and things that we saw in this fantastic showing by our Wolverines in what ended up as an 83-64 win.

1. Caleb Houstan had the game he needed to have

Caleb Houstan had been little to no help offensively or defensively for the matter for a lot of this season. There would be moments where you’d see the potential and then there would be other times where you’d question why he was on the floor.

His performance against Maryland was exactly what Michigan basketball needs out of him on a consistent basis. Caleb went 6-of-7 from the field, 3-of-4 from deep putting up 16 points and grabbing four boards. He was clean with the ball too, only forcing one turnover.

Hopefully, this gave him a boost of confidence he needs and deserves, he’s never shot as well as he did and that could be what he needed to get over the learning bump. There’s a lot more positive energy around Caleb than there has been in a while, which hopefully is good for his and the team’s sake.
