3 Predictions for Michigan Basketball vs Michigan State
Hunter Dickinson can’t do it alone
Dickinson scored a combined 26 points against the Spartans last season and shot 8-of-14. But Saturday he will be the focal point and my guess is that Tom Izzo forces someone else other than Dickinson to beat him.
I don’t think that the Spartans will double super hard early. I think they’ll play straight up and apply some on-ball pressure when Dickinson catches it, as well as some quick doubles.
But Marcus Bingham will get lots of one-on-one chances. He’s 6-foot-11 and averaging nearly three blocks per game.
Dickinson will have to prove he can score one-on-one and if Hunter can’t take advantage of those chances, Michigan basketball’s offense is really in trouble. The Wolverines don’t have anyone who can create their own shot and not many who can create for others if we are being honest.
Dickinson is one of those but he has to be effective down low. I think he’ll have a solid game and score around 15-17 points but he’ll need help from Caleb Houstan, Eli Brooks, Moussa Diabate, and others.
