3 takeaways from Michigan Basketball’s loss to Rutgers
Time to reset expectations
Michigan basketball isn’t going to make the NCAA tournament. There could be some magic turnaround I supposed but in 13 games, we just haven’t seen it.
The Wolverines played well for a half against Buffalo and nearly blew that game. The San Diego State game was a high point and that’s been about the only 40-minute performance of the season.
Michigan State is coming to Ann Arbor on Saturday, followed by Purdue and a road trip to Illinois next week. If the Wolverines lose all of those games, they will be 1-5 in the Big Ten. That’s not something you can recover from.
Maybe if Michigan is able to win one of three, it will have an outside shot, but in my opinion, getting to .500 is going to be a fight, which means U-M will be lucky to reach the NIT, let alone the NCAA tournament.
Juwan Howard says this team will improve and will learn how to finish. Well by the time that happens, it will be too late. It almost is already.
