Michigan Basketball: 3 Things to watch against Rutgers
2. Stop Ron Harper Jr.
Ron Harper Jr. has catapulted into the conversation of elite Big Ten players this season which is one of the highest feats a player could accomplish in a season. Ron Harper Jr. is a true bucket getter who has grit and fantastic defense.
Every game, Michigan is going to go against someone similar to Ron Harper at least in the Big Ten, so it’ll be important to limit Ron Harper’s role in this game by getting him in foul trouble early or making shots next to impossible to come by.
He absolutely erupted against Purdue going 10/15 from the field picking up 30 points, including the game-winning 3-pointer as the clock expired. This guy can change the tide of the game in a second if allowed the opportunity.
Averaging about 15 points and 8 boards a game, he’ll meet his match in the paint with Dickinson, Diabate, and Houstan who are all high-caliber rebounders. While we’ve yet to see any elite defensive showcase from either, maybe this is the game we finally see that.
