Passing Offense

Georgia’s passing offense is averaging 247.9 (sack adjusted) passing yards per game, which ranks 55th nationally.

Against the five best defenses they have played, Stetson Bennett and Co. have registered an average of 281.2 yards per game while actually averaging less against the worst seven defenses they faced with just 259.2 yards per game (these numbers are non-sack adjusted).

Georgia has shown an ability to stretch the field against the better teams it has faced, and some of these numbers do come with the caveat of game script, especially the Alabama game playing behind.

Stetson Bennett owns the fourth-highest passing efficiency rating in the country at 176.8, so he is an effective game-manager when Georgia is able to play its ground and pound, grind-it-out style with a lead.

However, Bennett struggled against Alabama once the Crimson Tide took the lead, forcing him into pressure and he threw two interceptions in that game.

In fact, Bennett’s biggest weakness is his proclivity to turn the ball over.

He has seven interceptions this season on just 231 attempts, meanwhile, Michigan football’s Cade McNamara has thrown just four interceptions on 308 attempts.

To put it simpler, McNamara throws an interception on 1.3% of his pass attempts — Bennett does it over twice as often as he has an interception rate of 3.0%.

The Michigan defense has only eight interceptions this season which is just t-89th in the country, so the Wolverines will be looking to improve upon that number in this matchup.
