What All-American Victor Oluwatimi will bring to Michigan Football
By Kyler Kregel
Projection
Oluwatimi projects as an immediate starter for the Wolverines in 2022. While Greg Crippen played well as a true freshman in reserve duties in 2021, Oluwatimi is an established star at the position, and most certainly would not be transferring to play for Michigan football if he did not believe he would be starting in 2022.
With Michigan’s current starting center, Andrew Vastardis, set to depart the program this offseason and try his hand at the NFL, Oluwatimi will have an excellent opportunity to instantly fill Vastardis’ spot.
He will be competing with fellow centers Greg Crippen (true sophomore in 2022), Reece Atteberry (third-year sophomore), and Raheem Anderson (second-year freshman), and will have one season of eligibility remaining.
This would work out ideally for Michigan offensive line coach Sherrone Moore as well, getting to insert one of the nation’s top centers into the lineup immediately, and giving one more season for the younger options to grow, develop, and hit the weight room before taking over the center spot in 2023.
Overall, the Wolverines landed a terrific player today, one whose functional play strength, athleticism, and experience should certainly help bolster Michigan’s offensive line as they attempt to repeat as Big Ten champions in 2022.
