Michigan must slow Georgia’s run game

Michigan football’s offensive line was recognized as the best in the country on Tuesday but if there is one group that can challenge it for that title, it’s Georgia.

The Bulldogs actually create more yards for their running backs before contact than any team in the country. The backs are also good too. Don’t let all the talk about Georgia being physical fool you — the Bulldogs have athletes all over the place.

Zamir White and James Cook both average more than five yards per attempt and while they might not be as good as Hassan Haskins and Blake Corum after contact, they can take it to the house.

Georgia will also use its run game to beat opponents into submission, very much like Michigan does. The Bulldogs will stick with the run game, even if it doesn’t yield huge yardage, (a la Michigan) and eventually those body blows pay off.

If Michigan football wants to win the game, it can’t let that happen. The Wolverines couldn’t stop Kenneth Walker and that game got away from them.

This game is about making Bennett beat them. Put the game in his hands and see if the pass rush can disrupt him enough to change the game.
