Michigan Basketball: Weeks Five and Six in Review for the Wolverines
6th Man of the Week
For the first time we have two winners for one award: Kobe Bufkin and Terrance Williams.
Bufkin played in just two of the three games over the past two weeks but he was impactful when he did get in.
He logged five points, six rebounds, one assist, and one steal against Nebraska, sat out the Minnesota game, then put up a career-high 11 points and three rebounds against Southern Utah.
The thing that stands out most about Bufkin is his aggressiveness and his ability to impact the game in so many different ways.
He has a high defensive motor, always rebounds well for a guard, and has a unique ability to drive to the basket that not many players on the team have shown.
Terrance Williams also had a big week off the bench, but it was mostly in one game (Nebraska) which is why he ended up sharing the award with Bufkin.
Williams led the team in scoring against Nebraska with 22 points while also recording five rebounds and three assists in just 21 minutes off the bench, capping what was undoubtedly his best performance to date in a Maize and Blue uniform.
However he followed up that explosion with three points, six rebounds, and three assists over the next two games combined.
While the Wolverines were happy with 22 points off the bench, they will certainly be looking for more consistency from their bench players as Big Ten play moves closer and closer.
