An elite haul in the secondary

Will Johnson has long been the centerpiece for Michigan’s 2022 recruiting class. The five-star cornerback was the top-ranked player in the state and one of the best cornerbacks in the country.

He’s also 6-foot-3 and frankly, Johnson should be starting day one next season. But he’s far from the only big-time prospect in this class.

Keon Sabb, who Michigan was able to win over late in the process, is a top-100 recruit and was committed to Clemson. Georgia, LSU, and Ohio State all pushed for him at the end, but the New Jersey recruit sided with the Wolverines.

And when you add Zeke Berry to the mix, Michigan football added three defensive backs that are projected by 247 sports to be future NFL draft picks.

That’s an impressive haul and doesn’t even include Myles Pollard, who is criminally underrated as a three-star recruit, Kody Jones a solid four-star nickel corner, and Damani Dent, a three-star with huge upside as someone that Florida, Miami, and Oregon wanted badly.

Yes, Domani Jackson would have been nice too, but you can’t complain about the six in the secondary that the Wolverines signed.
