The five-star wildcard

Seattle (WA) Rainier Beach five-star offensive tackle Josh Conerly

Ahh, the wildcard. The guy whose crystal ball projections are 50-50 between Washington and Michigan. Yep folks. Get ready for some fireworks tomorrow with this recruitment.

Josh Conerly Jr. hasn’t tipped his hand on anything regarding his decision-making, so nobody knows which school he will commit to, but that’s the one I’m going to be watching very closely.

If Michigan can acquire his services, this 2022 recruiting class will go from being very good to downright elite (of course that’s also assuming everything else that I mentioned above goes Michigan’s way as well).

Obviously, Washington has a new coach, so I can see why Josh Conerly got renewed interest in the Huskies, although that school is probably going to be in a rebuilding year next year, so it might be a little rough.

Michigan can pretty much promise him a starting spot on the offensive line because Andrew Vastardis, Ryan Hayes, and Andrew Stueber are graduating.

Washington might be able to promise him a starting spot as well, just because of all the transfers out of the program they will probably have, but again, Michigan could be very good again next season.

Obviously, nothing is for sure, but Washington will probably be worse than Michigan next season.

Anyways, we’ll see how this recruitment goes. I’m gonna be optimistic about Michigan’s chances, but even if he doesn’t commit, if everything else works out, Michigan’s class is top-10. Can’t really complain about that after where the class ranked only 2-3 months ago.
