Sherrone Moore, Co-OC/offensive line

Losing Gattis would hurt. There is no way to sugarcoat that. But when you win championships, that kind of thing happens.

The good news is that Michigan football has a bevy of assistant coaches ready to take over the role starting with Sherrone Moore, who is already the co-offensive coordinator.

Moore took over the offensive line this season and did a remarkable job. Michigan’s offensive line has played as well as anyone in the country. And while I don’t know the extent of Moore’s involvement in the play-calling, he certainly has an impact on the run game.

He’s never called plays before but neither had Gattis and if the Wolverines are going to be able to keep all of these star-studded assistants, they will have to give them more money and more responsibility.

Moore is one of those guys. And obviously, he isn’t losing his co-OC title. The question is whether he would take over the job by himself or if another coach would join him as a co-offensive coordinator.

For that role, Michigan football has two great options on staff and that’s where we go next in our search to replace Gattis, which hopefully doesn’t have to happen.
